In 2020, breast cancer surpassed lung cancer to become the most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide. Experts predict that the burden of this disease will continue to increase in the coming years. Some even estimate that by 2040, breast cancer diagnoses will increase by 40% annually worldwide, and deaths may rise by 50%.
Approximately one in eight women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Understandably, many people fear this disease, but it’s essential to note that breast cancer can also affect men, accounting for about 1% of all cases. The more we know about this common and potentially deadly condition, the better we can prevent and manage breast cancer.
