4th of February World Cancer Day

To honor World Cancer Day, Massive Bio—a leader in matching cancer patients to clinical trials—has created a video to raise awareness about cancer and the potential for artificial intelligence to help patients find innovative new treatments, which will be displayed in New York City’s famed Times Square on February 4, 2023.

World Cancer Day is held every year on February 4 and was established in 2000 by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), which is the largest and oldest organization devoted to reducing the burden of cancer, promoting equity in cancer care, and making cancer control a priority for governments around the world.

The global burden of cancer cannot be overstated. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 10 million people die of cancer each year. Approximately 70% of cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. The annual cost of cancer care is estimated at US$1.16 trillion. Yet, experts estimate that at least one-third of cancer deaths can be prevented with routine screening, early diagnosis, and access to effective treatments.

Today is World Cancer Day. Cancer affects family and friends, not just the person with the disease. We had loved ones who were battling cancer within a broken healthcare system and knew there had to be more we could do. We believe that every person – regardless of location, occupation, or income – deserves the best chance to receive world-class healthcare options to survive and thrive. That’s why Massive Bio is with you not just today, but every day. In honor of World Cancer Day, Massive Bio has created a video that will be on display in Times Square in New York City today that will raise awareness about this disease and the potential for artificial intelligence to help patients find innovative new treatments.
